Messaging
Messaging in Modex Profiles allows loan officers and employers to connect and communicate directly once both parties have expressed mutual interest. This article explains how conversations are initiated, where to find them, and how anonymous messaging works for Hand Raised loan officers.
Note: Messaging requires an active Modex Profiles account. Employers must have a claimed and approved profile to initiate conversations. Contact Modex Support if you have questions about your account status.
How Conversations Are Started
Conversations in Modex Profiles are triggered by mutual interest — both the loan officer and the employer must express interest in each other before a conversation can begin.
When mutual interest is detected, a confirmation modal appears with the message: "Looks like a great match! We've started a conversation to get your talk going." Click Go to your conversation! to open the conversation immediately.
Employers can also initiate a conversation directly from a loan officer's profile. A confirmation modal will appear showing the employer's name, branch or company name, and address before the conversation begins. Click Start Conversation to proceed or Cancel to go back.
Navigating to Your Conversations
Click the conversations icon (speech bubble) in the top navigation bar. A badge on the icon shows your number of unread messages. Clicking the icon takes you to your full conversations list where you can view and continue all active conversations.
Anonymous Messaging for Hand Raised Loan Officers
If a loan officer has their hand raised, their identity is hidden from employers by default. When an employer starts a conversation with a Hand Raised loan officer, a toggle appears offering two options:
- Anonymous — the loan officer's identity remains hidden from the employer
- Revealed — the loan officer's identity is disclosed to the employer at the start of the conversation
The default setting is Anonymous. Loan officers can choose to reveal their identity at any point during the conversation. For more information about the Hand Raised feature, see Raise Your Hand.
Messaging as an Employer
Employers (branch and company profiles) can message loan officers they have found through the Loan Officers or Hand Raised sections of their navigation. To initiate a conversation, navigate to a loan officer's profile and express interest. Once the loan officer expresses interest in return, the conversation will be started automatically.
To send messages, your profile must be claimed and approved. If your account is still pending review, messaging will not be available until your claim is verified. For more information, see Claiming an Employer Profile.
The user who engages in conversations must have the Represent Profile permission enabled on their account. To manage user permissions, go to Settings > User Access. For more information, see Employer Profile Settings.
Messaging as a Loan Officer
Loan officers receive interest from employers and can respond to initiate a conversation. When an employer expresses interest, it will appear in the Who has shown interest in you? section on your dashboard. Expressing interest in return will start the conversation.

Fees and Messaging
Starting a conversation is free for all employers. Fees apply only when a connection made through Modex Profiles results in a loan officer being hired. To review your fee schedule, go to Settings > Fees Overview. For more information, see Employer Profile Settings.
